Chris Western was after a floor that was easy to clean and would suit him as he had an inside dog that was part of the family. Being an old house the floor wasn't quit flat enough for laminate (3mm over 3 meters), so after some leveling compound and sanding the floor was ready to lay.

It was an existing kitchen so we took the toe kicks off and arranged for them to be cut down as they were stainless steel. We also took the end and side panels off so the floor ran under the kitchen units. Then fitted the panels after the floating floor was down.

This gave Chris the best possible finish around his kitchen. After cleaning the floor we placed the furniture back so they could come home and enjoy their new floor.

Brian rang us after he was referred to us from a previous customer. He knew the colour of the floor he was after, to match the furniture and wall colours. Brian picked from our samples of solid floors and chose a very hard and dark colour - Indian Walnut.

This was a new house with particle board as the sub-floor so we gave it a sand to clean and have a surface suitable for gluing too. We started laying 110sqm, gluing and secret nailing in the tongue and groove so there was no surface nailing. We finished the floor with 3 coats of low sheen polyurethane.

Brian asked if we could lay 2 boards around his stairs and walkway in the entrance for the glass hand-rail to fix to. This was no problem for us and the finished look came up better than he expected.
